Refugio County, Texas – A woman and her three children were injured on Friday after her car collided with a train in Refugio County, according to the Texas DPS.

The crash happened around 8:10 a.m., May 24, at the crossing at U.S. Highway 77 and Vidaurri Road.

DPS said Hallie Martinez, 28, of Refugio, was driving a 2019 GMC Acadia eastbound on Vidaurri Road, approaching the railroad crossing. A train was traveling northbound also approaching the crossing. The Acadia failed to stop and yield the right-of-way to the train and was hit on the passenger side by the front of the train.

The force of the impact pushed the Acadia into the grass northwest of the crossing.

Martinez and her three children in the vehicle, ages 5, 1, and 11 months, were transported to Refugio County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
