Jasper County, TX – The mother and daughter who died Friday night in a car accident at the Jasper-Newton County line have been identified as 35-year-old Meagan Martin of Groves and 13-year-old Serenity Rivera of Hemphill, according to the Texas DPS and family members.
The fatal collision happened on March 6 on State Highway 62.
DPS said a vehicle crashed into a Chevrolet driven by Martin.
Martin was killed in the accident. Her daughter, Rivera, was taken to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth, where she later died. Her 9-year-old son, who was also a passenger in the Chevrolet, was taken to a Beaumont hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No further details were available.
The authorities are investigating the accident.
