30-Year-Old Man Killed in La Marque Motorcycle Crash on Gulf Freeway
La Marque, Texas – A 30-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash during a police chase early Monday morning in La Marque, according to the Galveston Police Department.
The fatal crash happened on the Gulf Freeway, on May 27.
Police said officers responded to a crash around 12:40 a.m., involving a motorcycle in the 4100 block of Seawall Blvd in Galveston. The 51-year-old female passenger of the motorcycle was ejected and was taken to UTMB Galveston in critical condition.
The motorcyclist fled from the scene. He was located near 45th Street and Seawall Blvd and officers attempted to stop him but he continued fleeing. He exited the island on I-45 before attempting to weave between a wrecker and a pick-up truck on the freeway in La Marque. He collided with a pickup truck in the northbound lanes of the freeway and was killed in the crash. He has been identified as a 30-year-old man.
The crash closed the freeway for about six hours.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
