The deadly crash happened at about 5 a.m. in the 1600 block of the 610 North Loop.
Houston, TX – One person is dead following a traffic collision on 800 North Loop West in Houston Wednesday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.
According to police, the incident happened on North Interstate Highway 610 West near Shepherd Drive
According to HPD, a red Acura sedan was disabled (after being involved in a minor crash with another vehicle) in a moving lane of traffic near 800 North Loop West when it was rear-ended by a white Freightliner tractor-trailer truck heading westbound on the freeway.
The man inside the Acura at the time of the crash was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital where he was declared dead.
The driver of the 18-wheeler remained at the scene after the crash. Investigators determined that the driver was not impaired at the time of the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
